Excitement As Oyo Lawmaker, Wumi Oladeji Commissions Transformer Donated To Irewolede Community

It was an atmosphere full of excitement by the residents of Irewolede Community in Ogbomoso North Local Government as the lawmaker representing the constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawumi Bimbo Oladeji commissioned the second 500KVA electric power transformer donated to the community.

This, according to the two-term lawmaker, is a part of her commitment towards ensuring improved power supply and security of lives and properties of the people of Old NTC Quarters Area, Irewolede area of Ogbomoso North Local Government.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the commissioning on Tuesday, Hon. Oladeji who is the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, expressed that the 500KVA power transformer was the second she will be donating as part of her promises to improve supply of electricity which has been their major concern over the years in the community.

According to the lawmaker, “to the glory of God, I facilitated this transformer to the community, this is the second one I will be donating to the community to improve supply of electricity.

“Irewolede Community is one of the communities under my constituency and it is part of my promises to them and I believe that they will make good and proper use of the transformer that I have handed over to them. I also hope that the community will protect it jealously to avoid being tampered with by unscrupulous elements.”

Speaking on some of the challenges facing the community which prompted the donation of the power transformers, Hon. Oladeji said that the community was facing a number of challenges caused by lack of power supply, however, expressed optimism that the newly installed 500KVA transformers will put an end to those challenges.

The son of former state Governor, Hon. Olamiju Akala, political leaders as well as community leaders in Ogbomoso North who converged to witness the event, commended the lawmaker for representing the people well and justifying the mandate given to her by the people of Ogbomoso North.

Hon. Olamiju Akala, while commending Hon. Oladeji for her gesture to the people of her constituency, described her as his elder sister and a key member of the Akala political dynasty.

He added that the people of Ogbomoso North are lucky to have a lawmaker who has continued to prioritize her people’s wellbeing above all other interests, assuring that his relationship with the lawmaker can only grow and wax stronger as he hopes to also benefit from her wealth of experience as a lawmaker.

One of the leaders in the local government, Brigadier General (rtd) Senator Brymo Yusuf, lauded the gesture by Hon. Oladeji, saying that she is a worthy ambassador of Ogbomoso North at the state legislative chamber.

“I am glad to be here to commission this 500KVA power transformer donated by our Honourable, Mrs. Wumi Oladeji, who is making us really proud at the state House of Assembly. This project means a lot to the people and it doesn’t need further explanation as you can see for yourselves because it has afforded us good and regular power supply in this community.”

Reacting on behalf of the Landlords Association of Irewolede Community, Alhaji Ojo Adegoke, expressed that the community suffered epileptic power supply for a long time until Hon Oladeji stepped in to bring an end to the problem in the area with the donation of the transformers. He assured that the community is ready at any given time to reciprocate the laudable gesture.

Another resident of the community, Engr. Dayo Lawal, highlighted the immediate and long term benefits of the power transformer to include adequate supply of electricity for domestic consumption and security of lives and properties of residents in the community.

He assured that as part of measures to ensure durable use and longevity of the facility, residents will provide adequate protection for the transformer to avoid being tampered with by unscrupulous individuals.

The commissioning witnessed the presence of political bigwigs and leaders including Engr. Dayo Lawal, Mallam A. K. Bello, Alhaji AbdulHamid Monsur Ayoade Ejide among others.
