A leading aspirant for the Oyo Central Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Barrister Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi has mourned the death of the late Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Atanda Olayiwola Adeyemi lll.
Oyedemi, a descendant of Baale Aketan, in his condolence message on Saturday, expressed rude shock at the sudden transition of the most revered Yoruba monarch. He commiserated with the immediate family, Oyo Mesi, subordinated Obas, Baales, fellow illustrious sons and daughters of the town.
According to the statement, “the sudden passing of Iku Baba Yeye has left me jolted of the eternal loss of a precious father, invaluable mentor and staunch supporter, who unquestionably believed in my projects.
“the late Oba Adeyemi was a passionate royal father and traditional ruler, who strongly believed in and assiduously worked for the human and community development as his 52 years reign as Alaafin witnessed unprecedented and countless turnarounds in physical and economic development in Oyo town and its associated villages.
“Baba as a gracious father regardless of tribal lineage and difference, adopted, pooled and guided countless numbers of less privileged but gifted individuals to the pinnacle of their careers not to talk of various establishments home and abroad.
“Unequivocally, the vacuum left by his demise will be hard to fill due to his unmatched wealth of experience and passion for excellence among the royal personalities in the country and beyond,” the APC Oyo Central Senatorial District aspirant said.
Barrister Oyedemi, therefore, prayed for the eternal and peaceful repose of the late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi lll, saying that Nigeria’s traditional institution has lost one of its finest brilliant brains, custodians and promoters of Yoruba culture, tradition and heritage.
