*As Olatunbosun, Fakorede, Eight Others Confirmed As Commissioners
The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has forwarded the name of Justice Moshood Abass to the state’s House of Assembly for confirmation as the new President of the Customary Court of Appeal in the state.
Justice Abass is expected to replace Justice Aderonke Aderemi who is retiring from active service.
This was contained in a letter forwarded by the governor and read by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin during the plenary on Wednesday.
Justice Moshood Abass is expected to appear before the state’s lawmaker for confirmation on the date yet to be mentioned.
The nomination of Justice Moshood Abass was sequel to his recommendation to the National Judicial Council, NJC by the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission.
According to Governor Seyi Makinde’s letter, “consequent upon the request, the National Judicial Council has recommended Hon Justice Moshood Akintunde Akinfemi Abass as the new President of Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal. It is in view of this, that I am requesting the Speaker and other lawmakers to kindly deliberate and confirm his appointment as requested.”
Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the name of commissioner designates forwarded to it by the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
This was followed by the motion moved by the House Minority Leader, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape.
While passing the resolution on the motion, the Speaker charged the commissioner designates to justify the confidence reposed in them by the governor.
Hon. Ogundoyin urged them to support the agenda of the present administration, which he noted were aimed at boosting the socio-economic activities of the state.
In their separate responses on the floor of the House, former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun and his counterpart from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede pledged their commitments to sustaining the pace of development already established in their various ministries.
The commissioner nominees promised a better service delivery to the people of Oyo state.
The list includes Mr. Abiodun Oni, Mr. Seun Fakorede, Mr. Adeniyi Adebisi, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Mr. Wasiu Olatunbosun and Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulrahim.
Others are Prof. Musibau Babatunde, Mr. Segun Olayiwola, Dr. Bode Ladipo and Alhaja Kafila Olayiwola.
