Excitement As Students Win Laptops, Tablets, Other Items At DAKA Foundation Quiz Competition

It was jubilation galore at Alayande Hall, Ibadan Grammar School, Molete, venue of 2021 DAKA Foundation Annual Inter-Schools Quiz Competition, when students received laptops, tablets, android phones as prizes for their outstanding performance.

Baptist High School, Oke-Ado emerged winner of this year’s edition of the competition, narrowly defeating Ibadan Grammar School after both schools were tight on points.

The Annual Inter-Schools Quiz Competition, which took place on Tuesday, was held among 30 schools across Oyo.

While speaking at the well-attended educational programme, the Convener and Founder of DAKA Foundation, Dr. Adesina Kazeem Abidikugu, expressed that the Foundation was set up to assist the less privileged and indigents to achieve their desired objective in life.

According to Dr. Abidikugu, “DAKA Foundation is encouraged and is ready  to assist the needy and indigents to attain a better life worthy of emulation.

“I saw the need to educate a child and subsequently educate the society, and also aid the spirited efforts of the state government in giving the much needed education that would build a formidable society which will make a great nation.

“The essence of periodic tests of students’ knowledge, perception and understanding of subjects taught in schools is seen as a means of extracting students endowed with academic excellence who can be assisted by the Foundation to attain greater heights in their respective careers of choice, and also be able to impact on their immediate surroundings and society at large,” Dr. Abidikugu said.

In his goodwill message, the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Pastor Adeyemo Adebowale, disclosed that efforts like this would complement the government’s plans to improve education.

He enjoined the participating students to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the programme.

Mr. Abiodun Obileye, who represented the Head of Zone 1, commended the CEO of DAKA Foundation for supporting the government in developing the education sector.

He said Governor Seyi Makinde has done excellently well in raising the bar of education standard in Oyo State in terms of meeting with the UNESCO’s education budget recommendation.

Obileye enjoined other well-meaning individuals, religious bodies and old students’ associations to emulate the good gesture of Dr. Adesina Abidikugu.

While presenting his goodwill message, ANCOPPS Chairman, Mr. Lasun Babajide, charged the parents to pay more attention to their wards particularly as regards their education.

While Baptist High School, Oke-Ado emerged the winner of the 2021 DAKA Foundation Quiz Competition with prize gift of trophy, two laptops for the participants, writing materials and a sum of N100,000, Ibadan Grammar School and Peoples Girls Grammar School emerged first and second runners up with prize gift of two tablet phones, writing materials and a gift of a sum of N50,000 and two Android phones, writing materials and a sum of N30,000 respectively.
