Presenter of Ayekooto On Radio, Olayinka Agboola with his guest, Toyin Adegbola during the programme

The veteran Nollywood actress, Toyin Adegbola, popularly known as ‘Ajoke Asewo to re Mecca’ has revealed why she decided to remain single despite it being 20 years that she lost her husband.

The veteran actress gave the revelation while featuring on a weekly radio show; ‘Ayekooto on Radio’ anchored by Olayinka Agboola and broadcast live on Lagelu 96.7 FM in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State’s on Tuesday evening.

Ajoke, who said she is not interested in taking a shot at marriage for the second time, disclosed that the success and welfare of her children is her uppermost agenda. She regretted losing her husband at an early stage of her marriage, noting that she never bargained for the unexpected.

“Blood runs in my veins, it is a decision I have made for myself at this particular time, I don’t owe anybody any explanation if I decide to re-marry in 2020.  I want my children to be okay, but for now I am not ready for it”.

Speaking on the controversial ‘Oniduro’ saga, the thespian reaffirmed that God has a diverse way of speaking to human beings and He is our reliable Guarantor that cannot be disputed.

Ajoke, however, stated that Tope Alabi should have diplomatically communicated the message in a better way without being accused of destroying another person’s job or reputation.

Reacting to a question on how she normally runs her, especially when she is not at a film location, she said “I love cooking and listening to music when I am not at location. Nobody cooks for me when I am at home”.

On the accident she suffered in a location in a film directed by Tope Adebayo, Ajoke Asewo said it was part of the hazards of the job. She noted that the injury almost led to the amputation of her leg.

The Nollywood actress noted that it was the intervention of God that saved her, and that she did not have any underlying injury that could have triggered the injury, she said that her leg should have been amputated.

She maintained that the ethics and love of the profession which says “the show must continue” made her return to the location the following day even though she spent about four months nursing the injury.

Ajoke, however, admonished young women to be dedicated and focused in life and in their chosen profession, advising that Rome as they used to say was not built in a day. She urged them to learn from respected men and women who have carved a niche for themselves in their chosen profession.

The respected thespian further warned young ladies on the need to desist from mundane and immoral jobs, noting that it will not profit them in the long run. “When you say you are not ready to work but want to become a prostitute and become rich overnight they will just use you and dump you like a tomato basket.

“Such acts might eventually lead to their destruction and affect marital life negatively and make them lose the prestige of womanhood,” Ajoke Asewo noted.
