
It was a day of good football’s artistry in Ado-Ekiti, the capital city of Ekiti State over the weekend when Agbana Football Academy defeated Professional Sports International Football Club (PSI FC) by 3-1 to win the LUSTAY Akogun Abayomi National Under-16 Tournament.
The winner thereafter went home with a cash prize of 200 hundred thousand naira while the runners-up, PSI from Ibadan, Oyo State got the sum of hundred thousand naira courtesy of the donor of the cup, Hon. Lustay Akogun.
Also, Alabi Selim of Agbana S A emerged as the most valuable player of the tournament while Greg Ode of Mshel FC adjudged as the highest goal scorer with Afolanyan Gbenga of Agbana S A that recorded highest saves emerged as best goalkeeper of the tourney and the coach of Agbana S A, Oladuni Tunde ended up as the best coach when individual recognition awards was announced.
In addition to the trophy, medals and cash prizes, the two finalists in the grassroots tournament according to the organizer will also represent the country in an international soccer competition abroad as an added opportunity attached to the soccer event.
While speaking during the final match and closing ceremony held inside Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti, the Proprietor of Agbana Soccer Acedemy, Coach Ademola Agbana, thanked the donor and sponsor of the football tournament and all teams that came from different part of the country to participate in the event, while pledging to be a good ambassador of the country when representing Nigeria in the international competition.
Speaking in the same vein, Lookman Akande, the Proprietor of Professional Sports International from Abanla, Ibadan that emerged as runners-up urged Oyo State Government especially the Oluyole Local Government where his team domicile to assist the club in its quest to represent Nigeria in the international tournament slot won by PSI.
