Thursday, May 13 has been declared as Eid-el-Fitr day in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) made the declaration on Tuesday.
The NSCIA is under the President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.
The declaration was made through their official handle of the council after being unable to sight the new moon of Shawwal 1442 AH.
The announcement reads: “There was no positive sighting of Shawwal crescent in Nigeria today, 29th Ramadan 1442 AH (Tuesday, 11th May 2021). Hence, tomorrow is 30th Ramadan 1442 AH, Wednesday, 12th May, 2021.
“#EidAlFitr is Thursday!,” it reads
