“It Is Turn Of Igbo To Be President”- Ex-Abia Governor, Orji Kalu

As Nigeria is getting prepare for the 2023 general election with zones calling for the seat of the president, the former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Kalu has said that it is time of Igbo to occupy the number one seat position in the country.

Senator Kalu disclosed that South East region has waited for long, saying that now is the time  for Igbo to produce the president of the country.

He made the call during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

According to the Igbo leader, “I believe if Nigerians and the Nigerian people want to be fair, a South East president from Igbo extraction will be the next thing to do.”

Speaking on whether he is interested in becoming the president, the former Abia Governor said he is not eager to become the country’s number one citizen.

Senator Kalu, however, added that he will not hesitate if given the chance.

“I am not having that kind of ambition, but if I am given, why not? I can take it.

“There have been prophecies from some clergymen that the I will be Nigeria’s next president, but l dismissed them because of my religious beliefs. I am capable of leading this nation.

“I am a Catholic. In the Catholic church, we don’t see visions. Well, if visions are being seen, and people say this and that, if it is the will of God that I will become president, why not? I am very capable mentally and otherwise to do whatever Nigerian people want me to do but not through prophecy,” Senator Orji Kalu said.

While reacting to recent attack on Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma’s house, the lawmaker described the incident as barbaric. He lamented the increasing spate of insecurity in Nigeria and therefore, called for urgent solution
