Makinde Makes ‘Symbolic Political Move, Chooses Ladoja As Permanent Chairman Of Omi Tuntun Annual Ramadan Lecture

Governor Seyi Makinde in a discussion with the former Governor and Chairman of the occasion, Senator Rashidi Ladoja,

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has taken a step which many political observers in the state have described as a ‘symbolic political move’ following the announcement of Senator Rashidi Ladoja as the new permanent chairman of his Omi Tuntun Annual Ramadan Lecture.

Late Engr. Lere Adigun (Sahara Engineer) was the permanent Chairman of the annual Ramadan lecture, the position he held for six years before his death.

Governor Makinde, during this year event held at Arcade, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, the state capital expressed his preference for the former governor, Senator Ladoja to henceforth, continue as chairman for the annual lecture.

“The first six editions of Omi Tuntun Ramadan Lecture were chaired by late Engr. Lere Adigun, who was the permanent Chairman of the programme, I am honoured that my father, Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Ladoja is the Chairman today, and I hope he will chair the lectures going forward, even when he becomes Olubadan.”

The move many politicians in the state will describe as a delve political move to secure the former governor’s support ahead his re-election in 2023.

The year’s lecture made it seventh edition and titled “Unity in Diversity: An Islamic Perspective.”

Those in attendance include Deputy Governor, AbdulRauf Olaniyan and his wife, Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Alhaji Daud Makanjuola Akinola, Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik AbdulGaniyy Agbotomokekere, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja and Chief of Staff, Chief Bisi Ilaka and top other government functionaries.
