MMPN Oyo State Strengthens Leadership As New Exco Inaugurated, Charged To Lead With Fear Of Allah

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN Oyo State has inaugurated a new Executive Council to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.

The inauguration followed the expiration of the tenure of the Alhaji Abdur Rofih Adebayo-led administration of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), which was described as a period marked by notable achievements.

The transition ceremony, held at the BCOS Central Mosque, brought together Muslim media professionals from various media organisations in Oyo State, religious leaders and other stakeholders.

Performing the swearing-in ceremony, a former chairman of the association, Alhaji Wasiu Aliyu, commended the immediate past executive for upholding the legacies of the founding fathers of MMPN.

Aliyu acknowledged the administration’s contributions to the development of the association, particularly the foundation laying of the ongoing Islamic Centre project at the Amunloko area of Oyo State.

He urged the new executive, led by Brother Aliu Odukoya of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), to regard their positions as a responsibility to serve humanity.

He also called on the new leadership to dedicate the necessary energy and commitment to advancing the interests of the association and Islam.

In his goodwill message, the Chief Imam of Ile Akade Central Mosque, Engr. Billaminu Raji, emphasised the importance of fairness, trust and accountability in leadership.

He reminded the new executives that leaders would ultimately account for their stewardship before Allah.

The Chief Imam urged the executive council to work as a team, promote unity and place the collective interest of MMPN above personal considerations.

He also charged the leadership to uphold Islamic and professional values while contributing positively to the development of the association and society.

Engr. Raji further encouraged the new executive to strengthen relationships among Muslim media practitioners across media organisations in Oyo State.

He urged them to use their professional platforms to promote peace, morality, unity and responsible journalism.

According to him, stronger cooperation among Muslim media professionals would help the association contribute more meaningfully to society.

MMPN Oyo State Leadership Must Ensure Transparency

Also speaking at the inauguration, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Alhaji Hamzat Ladiran, said effective leadership requires transparency, consultation, fairness and a strong sense of responsibility.

He urged the new executives to remain accessible to members and administer the association without discrimination.

The new administration was also encouraged to build on the achievements of previous leaderships while introducing initiatives aimed at improving the welfare, professional development and unity of Muslim media practitioners in Oyo State.

MMPN Oyo State Chairman Pledges Accountable Leadership

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman of MMPN, Oyo State Chapter, Brother Aliu Odukoya, expressed appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in him and other members of the new Executive Council.

Odukoya pledged that the new administration would work collectively to promote the welfare, unity and professional development of Muslim media practitioners across the state.

He assured members that the administration would operate with transparency, accountability, fairness and the fear of Allah.

The new chairman also appealed for the support and cooperation of members, stressing that the success of the administration would depend on their collective commitment, unity and willingness to work together for the progress of MMPN.

The inauguration ceremony ended with prayers for the success of the new administration, the progress of MMPN Oyo State Chapter, the wellbeing of its members and the wider society.

The new Executive Council is expected to serve for the next two years.
