He also called on Nigerians to support the Flamingos as they prepare for the decisive encounter, noting that their achievements continue to showcase the country’s sporting excellence and inspire young girls to pursue their dreams.

“Once again, Nigeria is proud of you. Go for the trophy, Flamingos!” the President added.

Flamingos Make History With 3-1 Win Over Brazil

The Flamingos booked their place in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup for the first time after producing an outstanding second-half performance to defeat Brazil 3-1 in Morocco.

Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when Queen Joseph converted an assist from Oluwakemi Adegubyi to give the Flamingos a deserved lead.

The Nigerian side doubled their advantage in the 71st minute through Awawu Bashiru, who found the back of the net following an assist from Joseph.

Bashiru extended Nigeria’s lead in the 80th minute, scoring her second goal of the match after receiving a pass from Oluebube Umejiaku to make it 3-0.

Brazil managed to score a consolation goal in the 89th minute through Greise Kelly, who was assisted by Yasmin Queiroz.

However, the late goal was not enough to stop Nigeria from securing a memorable 3-1 victory and a historic place in the final.
