The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) Plc and its director, Zavyalov Dmitry, over alleged money laundering offences involving N582.43 million.

The EFCC arraignment of ALSCON for alleged money laundering took place on Monday, October 12, 2026, before Justice O. A. Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The company and its director were arraigned on a six-count amended charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/644/2025. According to the charge, Dmitry is currently at large.

The allegations centre on the alleged failure to report certain large transfers to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML), as required by the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

EFCC Alleges Failure to Report N582.43m Transactions

According to the charge, ALSCON, described as a Designated Non-Financial Business and Profession (DNFBP), and its director allegedly failed to report in writing several single transfers made from the company’s account between March and July 2024.

The transfers listed in the charge include four payments to UDATSON Nigeria, alongside payments to Urico Global Services and an individual identified as Christopher Azogu.

The transactions are outlined as follows:

March 2024: N147,515,050 allegedly paid to UDATSON Nigeria.

April 2024: N156,026,860 allegedly paid to UDATSON Nigeria.

May 2024: N121,425,200 allegedly paid to UDATSON Nigeria.

July 2024: N127,338,190 allegedly paid to UDATSON Nigeria.

April 2024: N15,124,950 allegedly paid to Urico Global Services.

June 2024: N15 million allegedly paid to Christopher Azogu.

The transactions amount to N582,430,250, the total sum cited in the alleged money laundering case.

EFCC Cites Money Laundering Prevention Act

The commission’s allegations are based on Section 11(1)(b) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, which the charge cites in relation to the reporting of the specified transfers to SCUML.

Count one alleges that ALSCON and Zavyalov Dmitry failed to report a transfer of N147,515,050 paid to UDATSON Nigeria in March 2024 from an account operated by the company.

The charge states that the alleged failure constituted an offence punishable under Sections 11(3), 19(2)(b) and 22 of the same Act.

Count two concerns an alleged failure to report a further N156,026,860 transfer to UDATSON Nigeria in April 2024.

Count four relates to an alleged N121,425,200 transfer to UDATSON Nigeria in May 2024.

The amended charge contains six counts covering the transactions identified by the commission.

The charge identifies Zavyalov Dmitry as a director of ALSCON and describes him as being at large.

The proceedings before the Federal High Court in Abuja concern allegations that the company and its director failed to comply with statutory reporting requirements for the specified financial transactions.

The allegations remain allegations, and the arraignment does not in itself establish guilt.

The case adds to the EFCC’s ongoing enforcement efforts against alleged financial crimes and non-compliance with Nigeria’s anti-money laundering regulations.

Further developments in the proceedings are expected to clarify the court’s consideration of the amended charges against the company and its director.
