Saki West Council Chairman, Omirinde Suspended By House Of Assembly

Suspended Saki West Local Government Chairman, Sarafadeen Omirinde
The Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Sarafadeen Omirinde has been suspended by the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Omirinde was suspended over alleged gross misconduct, religious intolerance, anti party activities and diversion of public fund.
The suspension followed by a petition forwarded to the House by the legislative arm of Saki West Local Government and signed by two third of the councillors.
The Clerk, Yetunde Awe, while reading the petition at floor of the House, indicated that  the Chairman diverted sum of 63 Million naira meant for infrastructure between August and October 2021.
She added that according to the petition, his religious intolerance attitude could throw the local council areas into chaos.
Deliberating on the petition, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, moved the motion that the Chairman should step aside for proper investigation on the allegations against him.
The Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin and other legislators adopted the motion as moved by asking the Chairman, Sarafadeen Omirinde to step aside.
The House, therefore, directed the Vice Chairman to step in as acting Chairman of the local council. The also directed that the leader of the legislative arm of the local government act as Vice Chairman pending the outcome of investigation.
It would be recalled that this is the third time local government chairmen and a vice chairman will either be suspended or removed in Oyo North area of Oyo State by the State House of Assembly.
