Speakers have emerged in the Lagos and Ogun State Houses of Assembly.

At the inauguration of both state Houses of Assembly, Dr. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa was re-elected as the Speaker of the Lagos State 10th House of Assembly, while Prince Adewale Egbedun emerged Speaker of Osun State 8th House of Assembly.

Obasa, who represents Agege constituency state constituency 1, is a six-term lawmaker and will be presiding over the Lagos State House of Assembly for the third consecutive term.

He was nominated and seconded by the lawmakers representing Ifako Ijaiye state constituency 1, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji and Epe state constituency II, Ogunkelu Sylvester Oluwadahunsi,

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday issued the proclamation for the House.

The 10th Lagos State House of Assembly comprises 40 members. It is dominated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which has 38 members while the Labour Party has two members.

While 20 of the lawmakers are returning, the other 20 are first-term lawmakers.

In Osun State House of Assembly, member representing Irewole/Isokan state constituency, Hon. Abiola Ibrahim and member representing Atakumosa East and West state constituency, Hon. Ebenezer Areoye moved the motion to nominate Hon. Adewale Egbedun as Speaker.

The new Speaker, Hon. Adewale Egbedun is representing Odo Otin.

Also, Member representing Ife-North state constituency, Hon. Abidemi Oyewusi was unanimously nominated as Deputy Speaker for the state House of Assembly.

Osun State House of Assembly comprises of 26 seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 25, the All Progressives Congress (APC) won only one.
