Aftermath Of EFCC Saga: Ogun Assembly Speaker, Oluomo Suspends Former Deputy, One Other Lawmaker

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olukunle Oluomo has announced the suspension two honourable members over alleged breach of House privileges.

One of the lawmaker suspended by the Speaker was Hon. Oludare Kadiri representing Ijebu North state constituency 2, who wrote a petition to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) against the Speaker and Hon. Solomon Osho representing Remo North state constituency.

The two honourable members were alleged of breaching the Section 17 of the House authority and privileges.

According to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, who made the announcement during plenary on Tuesday, maintained that the duo were found to have severally breached the House privileges and leadership remained suspended from activities of the House until further notice.

Meanwhile, a source close to the lawmakers disclosed that the suspension might not be unconnected to the petitions that lead to the arrest of the Speaker of the House by the EFCC.

It will be recalled that Tuesday sitting by the Ogun State House of Assembly would be the first after the Speaker, Hon. Olukunle Oluomo’s encounter with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The Speaker was arrested over alleged financial allegations by the anti-graft agency following a series of petitions and was taken to custody.

Hon. Oluomo, after granted bail confirmed that one of the petitioners is the former Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Dare Akadiri, who was one the lawmakers suspended by the House.
